Our Story

Freeman’s was born from a dream decades in the making. Owners Mike and Janice Freeman have long called El Reno home, and in 2025 they transformed a landmark — the old 1930s J.C. Penney building on Bickford Avenue — into a space where history, hospitality, and homestyle cooking meet.

The menu is rooted in recipes from Nana, Mamaw, Mike, Janice, and the family cookbook that’s been passed down through the years. From our hearty Chicken Fried Steak to Freeman’s Family Meatloaf, every plate is served with a taste of tradition and a helping of love. Even our mascot, Buddy — the Freeman family’s beloved (and three-legged) boxer — reminds us that family and community are at the heart of everything we do.

At Freeman’s, we keep things casual, welcoming, and real. Come as you are, share a burger and beer, or settle in for a plate of pot roast and “sorta-mashed potatoes.” We may be the new kid in Downtown El Reno, but our goal is simple: to become a place where neighbors gather, visitors feel at home, and every meal is worth remembering.
